We have strong links with Hatfield House and every year our Year 6 class attend an Estate Day to learn about the management of the countryside. Different estate staff talked to the children about the importance of their work in the running of the estate. We learnt about the different types of deer that roam on the estate. Although beautiful, if they are not managed properly they can cause a lot of damage to the trees and habitats of other creatures. The farmer spoke to us about the different crops that are grown on the estate and he showed us the machinery used on the farm. We were surprised by the range of crops grown and we couldn’t believe how much a combine harvester costs!
