PE sessions

To keep ourselves healthy and ready to learn we have weekly PE sessions.  We know the importance of warming our bodies up first and stretching.  We have a different activity each week that teaches us new skills and helps build our stamina. We also had a dance session with Miss Lisa.

Dinosaur Adventure

We were very lucky to have Dr Polet come and have a dinosaur adventure with us.  He shared some fossils with us and then we became palaeontologists! We had to excavate our dough, match the dinosaur and then classify our picture to the correct time period.  Dr Polet even let us take our dinosaurs home.

Visit from the Guinea Pigs

We had some very special visitors to Reception – our school Guinea Pigs!  Mrs Thompson brought Poppy, Daisy and Bluebell to visit.  We learnt how to care for them, what they can eat and we all were able to hold and stroke them.  They were very friendly. We now help care for them.

Pumpkin Soup Making

This week was all about pumpkins!  After reading the story ‘Pumpkin Soup’, we explored what was inside pumpkins.  We mixed two colours (red and yellow) to make orange to paint a pumpkin and finally we followed instructions to make pumpkin soup!  This created an algorithm.  Mrs O’Connor taught us how to dip fresh bread rolls …

Seaside Day

Reception class spent the day at the seaside!  It was a glorious day building sandcastles, paddling in the water, making kites, exploring rock pools and designing vehicles that we could use as transport.  No beach trip is complete without an ice cream at the end of the day! We enjoyed reading these 2 books:

Eric the Hedgehog

Reception class was very lucky to have a special visitor – Eric the Hedgehog.  In our local school community, we have Pat and Corinne who look after poorly hedgehogs before returning them to the wild.  They bought Eric the Hedgehog for us to meet before he was released.  We learnt what Eric likes to eat, …
